Chain (ch) to length of project in counts of 3 + 1 for turning ch
Step 1: start with single crochet (sc) in 2nd ch from hook.
Step 2: Insert hook into sc, pull through loop about 1/2 inch.
Step 3: Insert hook into loop and create a loose sc.
Step 4: Insert hook between the front loop and the "hump" in the back pulling through and finish second sc.
Step 5: Skip 2 stitches (st), sc in next st.
